Cass County - Fargo & West Fargo

  • February 15: pay the whole year by now and get 5% off the consolidated tax (not special assessments or drain taxes).[1]
  • March 1: first half due - half the consolidated tax plus all of the year's special assessment and drain installments.[1]
  • October 15: second half due.[1]

Late penalties: on the first half, 3% on March 1, 6% on May 1, 9% on July 1, and 12% on October 15; on the second half, 6% on October 15. A deadline on a weekend or county holiday moves to the next business day, and mailed payments must be postmarked by the deadline.[1] Statements go out the first week of December.[1]

How to pay: online (electronic check has no fee; cards add a convenience fee), by mail, in person at the Finance Office, or in the drop box in front of the Courthouse at 211 9th St. S., Fargo.[1]

Clay County - Moorhead

  • May 15: first half due.[2]
  • October 15: second half due for homesteads, cabins, agricultural homesteads, non-homesteads, and personal property. (Agricultural non-homesteads: November 15.)[2]

A due date on a weekend moves to Monday. You're on time if you pay at the Treasurer's Office by the due date, your envelope is postmarked by then, or you pay online by 11:59 p.m. The penalty rates are printed on the back of your statement.[2] Clay County also offers automatic withdrawal on the due dates if you sign up at least 3 weeks ahead.[3]

Paying through your mortgage escrow? Then your lender pays these for you - you'll still get a statement.[1][3] The calendar buttons add every deadline for this year and next, with a reminder 3 days before. The countdown moves weekend dates to Monday but doesn't know about county holidays, so double-check a date that lands on one.
